Man City remains 10 points clear of Man United in the table.
Solskjaer wants the Red Devils to keep building momentum.
Speaking to MUTV after Manchester United’s 3-1 win against Newcastle at Old Trafford on Saturday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “We can’t control any other team, we’ve just got to control ourselves.
“We have to be the best possible Manchester United in every single game. That’s the demands and the season is going to be demanding so you never know. Things happen. There are many surprises in football.”
Manchester United remain joint-second in the Premier League table after picking up 49 points from 25 games, level on points with Leicester City.
However, Manchester City have stayed 10 points clear at the top following last weekend’s round of fixtures. The Red Devils travel to the Etihad on March 7.
