John Terry idolised 2 Man United heroes of the ’90s, had ‘unbelievable’ meeting with one of them

Terry grew up as a die-hard Old Trafford supporter.

The future Chelsea captain looked up to Ince and Cantona.

John Terry and his father Ted were ‘mad-keen fans’ of Manchester United before the Englishman signed his professional contract with Chelsea.

And Terry, who was just a schoolboy at the time, actually got to meet one of his Old Trafford idols before the Red Devils played West Ham in early 1990s.

Speaking in an interview back in 2001, Terry said: “It was unbelievable. I was sitting next to Paul Ince, my favourite player, and I was scared to eat in case I dropped my food everywhere.

“Signing for Chelsea was a tough decision. Man United were my club and my dad’s. We were mad-keen fans and Eric Cantona and Ince were my heroes. It upset my dad but he could see Chelsea were going places.”
