Neville believes the centre-back are not following Solskjaer’s instructions.
They did the exact opposite of what the manager wanted at West Brom.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the 1-1 draw away at West Brom on Saturday, Gary Neville said: “I watched Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talk about his defenders pushing up the pitch in his pre-match interview.
“Well that was exactly the opposite. West Brom were always going to put pressure on the Manchester United defence and put the ball into the box as early as possible.
“They don’t shift, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire. I said it two or three weeks ago, if you don’t shift the two or three yards when the ball goes back then you’re going to end up on top of your goalkeeper.”
Lindelof allowed himself to be bullied off the ball in the 6-yeard in the first half as the Baggies grabbed an early lead at the Hawthorns. As for Maguire, the skipper had to be bailed out by David de Gea after a terrible error after the break.
